Welcome Home Quilt Project
With the Opportunity Quilt completed, work will begin on quilts for the 6 children who will occupy the Sebastopol homes. We currently have quilters who form a core group for making the first children’s quilts. This group will form a Steering Committee to organize and run the WHQ Project. We also understand non-quilters have something special to give as well and are encouraged to join us too. Men interested in learning the intricate and detailed art of quilting are encouraged to join us too. Our next Meeting is Tuesday July 1st, from 10am to 3pm at the Quilted Angel store, 200 G St. in Petaluma [mapquest ]. Click here for a flyer for this meeting.
Pam Ponting, a professional Long arm quilter in Petaluma, has donated her time for assembly and quilting, so quilters will only be responsible for creating the quilt fronts and finish binding. The Quilted Angel store in Petaluma has also donated space for monthly quilting workdays on the first Tuesday of every month. Those attending the workshop should bring a lunch. We are so grateful to have such wonderful sponsors for this exciting new project. Click on these links to open a Quilt Project Flyer or Quilt Project Information Sheet , which provides more detailed information. Call Darlene on 707-578-7707 if you need information about the Habitat Childrens Quilt Project or the Quilt Project Donation Coordinator - Pam Coryell, who can be reached at (707) 888-1533. Please call her with any donations or questions and come join in the fun!!

Habitat is more than building houses. It is about improving lives and the community, one house, and one family at a time. Habitat families frequently have no extra income to pay for items beyond basic needs. Often their children miss exposure to various cultural events which can broaden a child’s view and cause them to aspire to a better life. We know that children between the ages of 11 and 14 usually begin to make life choices that may last a lifetime. On our wish list are various items frequently needed by Habitat families. Please mark your donation for Family Services. If you would like to target a specific item on the list please let us know. We hope you can help us with these important items.
Gift certificates for school clothes and supplies In addition our Habitat parents are often in need of:
Home maintenance fund
Life is a daily challenge for our families who find themselves on the edge of poverty. These families are only able to focus on getting through each day. Imagine having to choose between buying gas to get to work or buying food for your family. Many of these families work two jobs and still have difficulty making ends meet. A small expense like a flat tire or the cost of a prescription can quickly become a financial crisis.
