Winter 2010

The Women Build program has started in Healdsburg We have just completed our Women Build Clinics through Lowe's but don't let that hold you back from volunteering on the build. Thursdays are dedicated to our Women Build and no experience is necessary.

Every May, our local Habitat for Humanity Women Build group participates in National Women Build Week , sponsored by Habitat for Humanity International and Lowes. For our participation,  we are eligible for grants from Lowe’s towards building materials.

We are now selling pink hard hats to help raise money for the Women Build project. Please contact Isabelle Accornero if you would like to purchase your pink hard hat.

The local affiliate is part of Habitat for Humanity International, but is fully self supporting, raising its own funds for building within the local community.  Habitat for Humanity International has built more than 300,000 homes worldwide working with local affiliates within the USA and abroad.

Habitat for Humanity's Women Build program promotes the involvement of women in the construction of Habitat houses. Women-built projects provide an opportunity for women to learn construction in a supportive environment. Women Build works through affiliates to nurture, recruit and train women to build and maintain simple, decent, healthy and affordable homes.

For more information on how to join the HFHSC Women Build program and be added to the Women Build e-mail list, email Isabelle.

More than 350 Habitat houses have been built in the United States by women crews.
